The beginning of this success story lies in December 2006, when Jan Northoff and Tobias Neisecke started to grow their idea of reproducing Berlin as newBERLIN in Second Life®, in a true to scale version. Shortly after, in January 2007, a partnership under German Civiel code, called "YOUseeMEin3D.com", was established.

After a period of thorough planning, the first part of newBERLIN was presented to the public, accompanied by an overwhelming media coverage. Shorty after, first costumers opend their branches in newBERLIN and the virtual city started to expand, to a size now nine times bigger than its first part. It it visited by around 20.000 avatars per month from all over the world.
Ever since September 2007 there furthermore is an official Second Life® landing point at newBERLIN, from that time one more than 40.000 users have set up their Second Life® account on the newBERLIN website, and entered Second Life® for the first time at newBERLIN. Regular and enthusiastic visitors founded the "newBERLIN_Streetlife" group that by now has more than 10.000 members and is the largest German community in Second Life®.
Besides the production of movies in Second Life®, YOUin3D.com entered a further field in virtuality and started the project CAMPUSin3D.

Effective from October 1st 2008, the YOUin3D.com limited company (GmbH) was established, registered by the Amtsgericht Berlin Charlottenburg as HRB 115709 B. All dealings and contracts hitherto conducted by the YOUin3D.com Jan Northoff & Tobias Neisecke company constituted under civil law (GbR) will be inherited by the YOUin3D.com GmbH.

This years Virtual Worlds Camp was taking place on September 24th 2008 at Berlin. YOUin3D.com was present with an exhibition stand and intruduced the virtual city newBERLIN. Jan Northoff, creative director of YOUin3D.com, adressed the audience with a session titled: "Virtuality is a lie, information is always real. Or: why we need virtual shoes".
The film "Edd Kewin. Eine kleine Narbe.", partly realized by YOUin3D.com in Second Life®, was awarded. TrendONE, Europes leading company for micro-trend research, honoured the movie in the context of its trendscannings and included within the latest "Health Trend Report".
08/2008 Bridal fashion store Brautmoden Haupt in newBERLIN
Hamburgs leading store for bridal fashion, Brautmoden Haupt, now has its virtual dependance in newBERLIN. At the virtual store Second Life® users can find out about the collections of Brautmoden Haupt and eventually acquire a virtual wedding dress.

Im Rahmen der jährlich abgehaltenen Veranstaltung "Neue Medien der Informationsgesellschaft im Zeichen des Content" präsentiert YOUin3D.com in der Berlin-Brandenburgischen Akademie der Wissenschaften.

02/2008 Promotionsaktion ALEXA presents ON ICE Berlin: Weltausstellung
Eiszeit in newBERLIN: Die Eisskulpturenausstellung vor dem Alexa Shopping Center, Berlins größter Mall, wurde auch durch Eisskulpturen vor dem virtuellen Alexa beworben.
Werther kommt nach newBERLIN und der Klassiker von Goethe ins Fernsehen. Bei dem Filmprojekt handelt es sich um eine Gemeinschaftsproduktion von sturmunddrangfilm und teamworx für den ZDF Theaterkanal
Der 31. NICI-Shop wurde im ALEXA in Berlin eröffnet. Er ist noch keine drei Monate alt und seit Ende November 2007 gibt es zusätzlich den NICI-Shop in der virtuellen Welt des ALEXA Centers in Second Life.
